What is the meaning of our life. Why do we live if we still die?

Training on how to find meaning and calling in life

1.

In the recording of the training, for better understanding, before the exercises, examples of psychological blocks and parental instructions are given, which you are not aware of in the normal state, they program you for a miserable existence, and are revealed only when performing the exercises.

For example, a parental ban on joy is a deep unconscious belief that no matter what, everything will always be bad. And as you know, a belief is a self-justifying prophecy and a self-fulfilling prediction. And what kind of life do you think such a person will have if his vibrations are in resonance with the worst case scenario?

Why is life given? Who found the answer to the meaning of life?

Life is given in order to be happy . You don't have to live in suffering or constant problems. Happiness is the true goal of any person. You just need to decide what you need to be happy, because each person has their own definition of happiness. So find out what you need to feel happy.

Life is given in order to be happy . Always remember this, especially in those moments when you begin to feel sad and suffer. You do not have to be sad or suffer because of any losses, deprivations or the departure of another person. You are capable of being happy even in such difficult moments. Why not? Have you promised someone to suffer when someone leaves you? Or are you obliged to shed tears if you lose your job?

All these behavior patterns (tears, suffering, a sense of catastrophe) are introduced into human consciousness by society. But if you don't want to suffer, then you shouldn't do it. You are free to live your life the way you want. You can organize a holiday in honor of parting with your loved one. You can relax at sea after leaving work. You don't have to shed tears if you allow yourself and want to smile even when everyone else is crying.

Life is given in order to be happy . And if you don’t want to suffer, then don’t do it even in those moments when everyone else is shedding tears, dissatisfied or suffering.

Why look for the meaning of life at all?

Without meaning, life itself is unthinkable. It may be existence, but it is not life. The meaning of life allows you to:

  • feel the value of life;
  • understand your life story;
  • believe in your own uniqueness;
  • keep moving and developing.

Those who live meaningful lives take an active position in everything. They interact with the world practically and theoretically. Meaningfulness allows you to live the allotted time as fully and fruitfully as possible. “So as not to grieve about the years spent aimlessly.” — This is the motto of those who fill their lives with meaning.

To serve God

An individual living according to religious canons brings into his own existence those values that are important for a believer. Sometimes people try to fill the emptiness that often arises in their spiritual experiences. Not everyone manages to find the true meaning in faith, to understand the essence and meaning of existence. And not just justify your right to a place in the sun.

Christianity and other religions really can have a strong influence on a person:

  • Make it more enlightened.
  • Learn to look at the world with different eyes.
  • Make better.
  • Help you understand the true purpose of life.

Not everyone is given the ability to comprehend the rational that true faith carries within itself.

Why do people live if they die anyway?

The question is fair if you imagine life in this light: a person is born, grows, studies, then works, receives some kind of pleasure, enjoyment, grows old and dies. End of story. It may even seem that the whole point of this “end” is to count on my deathbed how much I managed to take from life. The only problem is that you can’t take anything with you. Then why?

If you ask realized, happy, successful individuals why a person lives, they will answer: “For other people.” Why? Like a lake filled with water from numerous streams, a person receives the benefits for his existence from the outside. However, if the water in the lake stagnates and does not flow out in new streams, then over time the lake will turn into a musty puddle. In the same way, a person who only receives for himself and does not give becomes ill. He lives the life of a shallow puddle, instead of taking place in the volume of a full-flowing lake.

Can a person live for himself? Yes and no. He realizes his desires when he does work outside, gives his skills to society, receiving a reward in return. Leaves its mark. And then he feels happiness.

Goals achieved, but meaning not found

So, a person lives to achieve what he wants. By doing what he does best for the benefit of others, he learns about himself. Each in their own way: in love and doing good, in creating a strong happy family, in achieving victories. But for some, self-knowledge lies on a different plane, intangible.

The spiritual search begins when the knowledge of the material ends: everything is there, but something is missing. If you feel this way, it means you have additional properties and desires. They are the ones who generate the question “why” in the head and at the same time contribute to the discovery and finding of the answer. The desire to comprehend the plan, the reason for everything, indicates the presence of a sound vector, the largest in terms of the volume of the psyche.

The owner of the sound vector is not filled with the values of other vectors. Love, family, success may not have any meaning in the end. The sound man feels that everything is transitory. The most desirable thing in life for a sound engineer is -

  • understand who he is;
  • determine your purpose;
  • reveal the design of everything that surrounds him.

However, these aspirations are not so easy to achieve. And you can’t buy it for money, and it’s not clear where to look.

The desire for more could be traced back to childhood. A child with a sound vector always wants to know what lies beyond the edge of the Universe. How is this nothing? Everything cannot come from nowhere, just like that. Also, upon becoming adults, seekers are interested in what will happen after death. What remains, or perhaps only begins, when everything ends for the observer? Is it really nothing again? This outcome is denied by the sound specialist: then why?

The owner of the sound vector begins to look for the answer in the works of philosophers and esoteric books. It seems that in order to understand who I am, you need to look into yourself. But there’s a dead end inside, and there’s still no point. Somewhere deep down there is a feeling that it would be easier. If you are aware of the other as well as yourself. But strong walls of misunderstanding separate the sound artist from other people every moment of his life. And what to do to remove the obstacle? Pull out brick by brick, demolish everything at once? Or throw the rope over and cross to the other side?

According to the logic of the nature of meaning - the main desire of a person with a sound vector - there cannot but exist, otherwise he would not be looking for it. It just turns out that you won’t be able to open eternity alone. The body and consciousness of one person do not have such power; to comprehend infinity, more resources are needed:

What is the meaning of life - Opinions

The opinion of Elder Boris Stark

Father Boris: Seventy years ago I heard a story on French radio.

There was one person who had high spiritual needs, he strived for spiritual life, culture, and aesthetics. However, he was forced to live in extremely philistine conditions. At work - he knew this in advance - all his colleagues would remember to wear satin sleeves to protect their jacket sleeves while they wrote all day. They did not forget to put a pillow on the seat of the chair so as not to get hemorrhoids. He knew in advance that they would talk about how they spent Sunday, what easy victories they won, how they had fun - some got drunk, others with girls..... He knew that he would come home in the evening, and at home his wife would open the door and say: “It's good that you came. Take off your shoes - we just waxed the floors. Take off your shirt - the laundress goes to pick up the dirty laundry. And look, I put the veal in the oven. You know that your mother-in-law doesn’t like it when veal burns.” He is horrified: “I can’t stand this anymore!!!! My soul thirsts for emotions - spiritual... cultural... and here - vulgarity and philistinism both at work and at home.” And he reaches for the noose.

He comes into this world. The Apostle Peter tells him: “My dear, I cannot let you go to heaven. You chose your own destiny." - “Apostle, whatever you want! I'm ready. I deliberately left, I just couldn't stand this life anymore. If life had turned out differently, I would never have decided to commit such a sin. But life there was unbearable for my gifted nature.” - “As you wish, you chose your destiny.”

The Apostle leads him inside, opens several doors, pushes him inside and closes them behind him..... A man enters. His wife is coming towards him... “Take off your shoes, because the floors have just been waxed, take off your shirt - the washerwoman is coming, look at the veal...”. She knocks on the door in horror. "Apostle!!! What have you done!!! I don't want to go to heaven! I want to go to hell! And where you sent me, that’s where I ran away! I don't want to go home! I want to go to hell! The Apostle said: “My dear, you did not want to put up with this when it was temporary, but now it is forever.”

This story made a very strong impression on me. And with her help I pulled four people out of the loop... I told them about it at the right time. Then one of them comes up to me:

- Father, thank you very much. Do not you remember me? - No, I do not remember. - How so! I was already one step away from soaping the rope, and you told me this warning, and so I was afraid that there would again be “soft shoes, a dirty shirt and veal burnt in the oven.” I don't want it to be like this forever.

The goal of man on earth is to try to live in such a way as not to be afraid of the transition from temporary life to real, eternal life. On one tombstone I read: “Passer, stop, you are still a guest, and I am already home.” We must live in such a way when we are guests in earthly life that we are not afraid of moving into our home, i.e. the Father's house in that world.

Reasonings of L. N. Tolstoy

L. In his works, Leo Tolstoy often addressed the question: what is the meaning of human life. And the writer’s head was completely filled with her decision. After much thought, Tolstoy realized that the purpose of human life is the self-improvement of the individual. As the writer said, in order to live a good and honest life, you need to constantly fight both with yourself and with the world around you.

Let us remember that Leo Tolstoy is not only a great and talented writer, but also an outstanding philosopher. He owns many quotes and catchphrases. He believed that before you understand what the meaning of life is, you need to understand what life is. It was this definition that he interpreted in his works. However, he devoted the most pages to exploring this issue in his epic novel War and Peace. It is by reading it that many people begin to think and understand what life really is.

From a philosophical point of view

The burning question of philosophy is the meaning of human life and the problem of existence. Already the ancient philosophers said that a person can philosophize by knowing himself; the whole secret of human existence lies in himself. Man is a subject of epistemology (cognition) and is capable of knowing himself. When a person has comprehended his essence, the meaning of life, he has already resolved many issues in his life.

Philosophy of the meaning of life in brief. The meaning of life is the central idea that determines the purpose of any object, entity or phenomenon. Although the true meaning can never be fully comprehended, it may lie in such deep structures of the human soul that a person has only a superficial understanding of the meaning. He may know it by looking within himself, or through certain signs, symbols, but the full meaning never comes to the surface, only enlightened minds can comprehend it.

The most common meaning of a person’s life is the meaning of objects and phenomena that he himself attributes to them, depending on his individual perception, understanding and degree of importance of these objects directly for a given person. Therefore, the same objects can have multiple meanings depending on the people with whom they interact. Let's say a thing can be completely unattractive, and for one person it is useless. But for another person, the same thing can mean a lot, be filled with special meaning. It may be associated with certain events or people and may not have material significance for them, but it may have spiritual value. A common example of this is the exchange of gifts. A person puts his soul into a gift, regardless of its price. They want it to be remembered. Then an ordinary thing ceases to matter, it is filled with love and desires, charged with the energy of the one who gives it.

Svetlana Kovalenko Psychologist, clinical psychologist Just as there is value in objects, there is value in human actions. Every action of a person is filled with meaning when he makes a certain decision that is important to him. Meaning means that certain actions have value, depending on the decision made and its value to the person and his environment. It also lies in the feelings, states, emotions and awareness that arise in a person.

The meaning of human life as a philosophical problem is also studied in religion.

The meaning of human life in religion means the contemplation and embodiment of the divine essence in the soul, its focus on superhuman holiness and unity with the highest good and spiritual truth. But a spiritual being is interested not only in the truth that describes an object, is its essential meaning, but also in the very meaning of this object for a person and the satisfaction of his needs.

In this sense, a person also gives meaning and values the facts, events and episodes of his life that were significant to him, and through the prism of this he realizes his value attitude towards the world around him. The specificity of an individual's relationship with the world is determined by a value attitude.

The meaning and value of human life are related in the following way - a person defines value as everything that matters to him, carries meaning, is close, dear and sacred to him.

The meaning of human life - philosophy briefly as a problem. In the 20th century, philosophers were especially interested in the problem of the value of human life and put forward various theories and concepts. Theories of value were at the same time theories of the meaning of life. That is, the meaning and value of human life, as concepts, were identified as the meaning of one passed into the meaning of the other.

Value is defined almost equally in all philosophical movements, and the lack of value is also explained by the fact that a person is indifferent and is not interested in making any distinctions in life between the categories of good and evil, truth and lies. When a person cannot define values or does not know which ones he follows in his life, it means that he has lost himself, his essence and the meaning of life.

Among the personal forms of the individual psyche, the most important are will, determination, self-control and self-control. The most important value orientation of an individual is faith as a positive human aspiration. It is thanks to faith that a person feels himself, lives, believes in a better future, believes that he will achieve his goal in life and that his life has meaning; without faith, a person is an empty vessel.

The problem of the meaning of human life began to develop especially in the 19th century. It also gave rise to a philosophical movement - existentialism. Existential questions are problems of a person who experiences emotions and depression in everyday life. Such a person experiences a state of boredom, fear of death and longing for freedom.

The famous psychologist and philosopher Viktor Frankl created his own theory and school in which his followers studied. The subject of his teaching was a person seeking the meaning of life. Frankl said that when a person finds his purpose, he receives psychological healing. In his most famous book, which is called “Man’s Search for the Meaning of Life,” the psychologist describes three ways to give meaning to life. The first path involves doing work, the second - experiences and feelings associated with a specific person or object, the third path describes life situations that actually cause a person all his suffering and unpleasant experiences. It turns out that in order to find meaning, a person must fill his life with work or some kind of main activity, take care of loved ones, learn to cope with problematic situations, and learn from them.

The problem of the meaning of a person’s life, the study of his life path, trials, hardships and problems is the subject of one of the currents in existentialism - logotherapy. At its center is man as a being who does not know his fate and seeks consolation for his soul. It is the fact that a person wonders about the meaning of life and existence that determines his essence. At the center of logotherapy is the process of searching for the meaning of life, during which either a person will purposefully search for the meaning of his existence, reflect on this question and try to do something, or he will become disappointed in this search and stop taking further steps to determine his existence.

Finding your goal is a task for every person!

From a psychological point of view

Fromm believed that without goals in life nothing will work out, since a person will have nothing to strive for and nothing to achieve. After all, a life full of goals and dreams is fun and exciting.

According to A. Adler, the purpose of a person’s life is the development of his soul. After all, everyone has some kind of ideal that they strive for and want to be like. Of course, this ideal is something good and positive. Therefore, when a person achieves his goal, he will be able to see what the true purpose of his life is and why society and the world need him.

If a person does not know how to set goals for himself, then his life has no meaning.

But Adler argued that all the meanings of life can be divided into several groups that will not suit everyone, because all people are individual. And every person has his own goal, which gives meaning to his life.

American sociologist K. Rogers argues that the purpose and meaning of a person’s life can depend only on his individual characteristics. He even wrote a whole book about it, which became popular. After all, people live in a constantly changing world, in which both sad and happy moments occur. Only a person himself can determine his “mission” in life and only for himself, based on his goals, lifestyle and other elements.

Set a goal only based on your characteristics and beliefs!

Who is this person?

A person is more than just a physical body.
I’ll try in a few words.

Man is a spiritual being. And the path of man on Earth is, first of all, the path of the soul. This is her experience of life in a human body, this is her embodiment here.

I wrote a little about why this is so, here and here. But much will be said in future materials.

This machine, which is called the human body, cannot travel without a driver. Our body is just meat, blood and bones, nothing more. By itself, this entire complex system cannot exist. Unconscious.

What is consciousness? Today, the scientific world cannot clearly answer this question. But it exists and without it the body is dead.

This Consciousness, if we talk about it with a capital C, and not as relating to an individual living being, it is in every organism, in everything that surrounds us. Just as all organs work - harmoniously in one system - this is how absolutely everything works in nature. Everything is one.

What is inside you is also inside everything around you. This awareness has come to people for a very long time. Here are Eastern traditions, religions, and yoga. Everything is one.

To make it clearer, a person has three bodies: external (material, physical), astral and causal. (More about the three human bodies)

Vadim Demchog talks about this very well: the role, the actor and the viewer. To put it very roughly, the role is the body, the actor is the soul, the viewer is God.

And the most important thing is that, existing separately, all this is essentially one whole, indivisible, single. God is the actor in his role, and at the same time he is also the spectator.
