Many people know that the reality around is created by the thoughts that are in the head. And what your reality will be depends on whether these thoughts are positive or negative.
Limiting beliefs are neither good nor evil. They can both stop us and help us develop. It's great when we know our weaknesses. If they exist, then you can work on them and grow.
How should you work with limiting beliefs? In this article I will talk about what settings are and share the technique for developing them.
What are installations
Attitudes are what we believe in. These are our thoughts, opinions that form a belief system.
Let's take two girls as an example.
One believes: to be a good wife, you need to cook, wash, clean and forget about your fulfillment. The floor should always be washed until it shines, the dishes should be washed, things should be perfectly ironed, dinner should be ready when your loved one arrives. She lives only for her husband, forgets about herself, considers this right.
The second is sure that in marriage you don’t have to be Cinderella to be loved. Household chores can be delegated, lunch can be ordered at home, and you can go to your favorite job, chat with friends or take a walk with your husband.
Which of these girls is right? Both. They just have different belief systems.
Or let's take two guys.
One believes that you can only earn money in the office. There is a stable salary, good company, bonuses and the opportunity to climb the career ladder. This arrangement is the height of his dreams.
Another thinks he can make more money online. For him, the office is a cage. You have to go to work every day, sit there from 9.00 to 18.00. Vacation once a year, if given. And the salary cannot be higher than a certain ceiling. As a freelancer, he can work as much as he wants. Will be able to travel at least 20 times a year and still work. If he wants, he can easily change his place of residence. Will be able to increase earnings when he creates his own team.
Who's right here? Both again. The first has one belief system, the second has another.
This system completely affects life. After all, as they say, thought is primary. That is, the belief system creates our reality. And if you think that you can’t make money doing what you love, then you will find confirmation of this particular attitude. If you believe that all men are assholes, only such men will come across in your reality. If you think that vacation is only for the rich, then you will not have a good vacation.
Attitudes prevent you from taking everything from life. They make it difficult to believe that reality could turn out differently. But there is always a way out: change your limiting beliefs.
Instructions
1st step
It consists of defining the goal, that is, the problem that prompted the implementation of this technique. To do this, you should think about the difficulties that plague you in your work or personal life. Analyze what they have in common? What causes negative reactions the most? Choose one that will be your goal.
2nd step
It is more difficult, because you will have to face your experiences, to raise the entire layer of feelings that you have pushed deep into yourself. Next to the goal, write down a number of your thoughts and prejudices regarding it. That is, what scares you, angers you in this situation, what feelings generally arise. Is there any doubt regarding the solution to this complexity. Imagine what could happen and end if you don’t take any action. What risks will arise, what new tasks will need to be performed. For example, “I am afraid of what my colleagues will think of me if I take the initiative in a new project.”
3rd step
At this stage, you should give a new command to the subconscious, that is, change its attitude and remove negative consequences. To do this, come up with any word that does not evoke strong emotions, that is, neutral, but at the same time simple and memorable. For example, the word “love” is not suitable, but “hand”, if not associated with any experiences, will do. After that, give the following command, inserting your code word:
“This instruction is for you, my subconscious. Every time I realize or notice a problem, I will say the code word “pen” for you and you will completely eliminate the problem. I thank you for always fulfilling my tasks and remaining faithful to me.”
4th step
Take the sheet on which you wrote down all the prejudices and start reading one sentence at a time, inserting a code word at the end. Read the same sentence so many times until a yawn occurs. Only then can you move on to the next one.
5th step
And to complete the exercise itself, for this we will need to remember positive affirmations, that is, reformulate every negative belief into a positive one, so that false and destructive attitudes no longer arise in your thoughts. You can read my article in which I described how to make affirmations. Once you have them, repeat the following phrases, again until you start yawning:
“Now I forever remove all problems that are associated with my goal (specify goal), pen.”
“Now I forgive myself, and all the people who are associated with my goal, pen.”
This is the best technique that will allow you to work together between your consciousness and your inner storehouse of information to improve the quality of your life. Such elaboration is very effective because it brings with it profound changes.
How to Identify Limiting Beliefs
To change the limiters, you must first find them. How to identify your limiting beliefs? There are several ways to do this:
Observe your emotions
To independently identify negative attitudes and find them in the subconscious, you need to observe your emotions. When we think or talk about limiting beliefs, a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness arises. They take away all the joy and energy from a person.
For example, you dream of standing on a big stage, filling stadiums and singing for people who love your work. When you imagine this, it’s as if warm lead is pouring inside, and those same fluttering butterflies fill your body. And then the phrases ring in my head: “This is impossible. I don't have that talent. To become a famous singer, you need a lot of money." At this moment everything inside collapses. These are the limiters.
Pay attention to the phrase
Negative attitudes and blocks often contain words: never, everything, everyone, always, must, impossible, wrong.
If you say or think about a phrase with these markers, then most likely it is that same negative belief.
How the subconscious is formed
To work with the subconscious, you need to know where to start. Throughout our lives, our brain forms a large number of programs that determine the order of our actions in each specific situation.
They are laid in several ways:
- In childhood and adolescence - by parents, teachers, educators. These behavior algorithms are literally cemented in the subconscious, and it is extremely difficult to change them. Complexes, clamps and attitudes acquired in childhood are that part of the unconscious that only a competent specialist can influence.
- Mass media. Every day, through television, radio, the Internet and printed magazines and newspapers, we receive a large flow of information in the form of visual images, texts, music. Modern media channels are a powerful tool for influencing the subconscious, forming the necessary attitudes and reactions unnoticed by the consumer. The ability to filter information coming from the media will allow you to avoid such manipulations.
- A close circle of friends, relatives, and colleagues also has a great influence on a person’s subconscious. For example, many people acquire bad habits during adolescence, when such behavior is considered normal in their social circle. Having matured, these people continue to smoke, drink alcohol, and break the law subconsciously, thinking that this is what they really want.
- Reinforced skills and habits. If you repeat an action many times, a program is formed in the subconscious and becomes a skill brought to the point of automatism. For example, when you learn to skate, in the first stages of training falls and hitches are inevitable; you have to think through every movement in order to place your foot correctly, gain speed, and brake. With the passage of time and regular practice, automaticity comes: the process of skating occurs by itself, without conscious effort on your part. The unconscious turns on.
- External influences. There are many professional techniques that influence the unconscious of another person and force him to act in the interests of the manipulator. These include “breaking the pattern”, “mirroring”, provoking emotions - playing on fears and complexes.
How to work through negative attitudes
What to do with negative attitudes that prevent you from earning more, building relationships, and being fulfilled? How to work with them? I will share with you a technique for transforming limiting beliefs that will help with this.
Take a blank notebook and divide it into spheres:
- health
- money, work, business
- relationship
- rest
- friendship
Write down all the beliefs that you say most often. Or, which you often think about in these directions. Be sure to write by hand. When we write words and write letters, more neural connections in the brain are activated than when we type on a computer or phone.
In the area of money and business, you can find the following attitudes:
- no money left;
- opening your own business is risky;
- in order to earn good money, you need to work for days;
- To get a good position, you need money or connections.
If we are talking about health:
- I am constantly sick;
- doctors only need money;
- I have a weak immune system;
- There are no normal doctors.
In the sphere of relations there may be the following restrictions:
- all men are goats;
- Nobody needs a divorced woman with a child;
- all men cheat;
- Nobody needs a strong and independent woman.
Friendship is like this:
- true friendship can only be in childhood;
- friendship between a man and a woman does not exist;
- nowadays it’s every man for himself, no one will help you;
- A true friend is known in trouble.
Some people even have attitudes about relaxation:
- if I rest, I am wasting my time;
- rest for the lazy;
- if you relax, then only in style;
- holidays are not for everyone.
You can read more about what beliefs exist in different areas in the previous article. Perhaps among them you will find your settings that you forgot or didn’t think about.
After you write down all the beliefs, opposite each negative one, write 3 promoting ones. That is, you need to transform limiting beliefs into positive ones.
Transforming beliefs creates new neural connections in the brain that are responsible for skills and ways of thinking. If an action or belief is not repeated, the neural connections weaken. Therefore, it will be good if you constantly say positive statements, like affirmations.
Affirmation is a positive statement that can replace a negative one when repeated many times.
How to use the subconscious: 12 rules
Our unconscious makes it possible to discover secrets previously unknown to people. If you learn to use it, you will discover new talents in yourself, become smarter and more receptive to the world around you. To do this, you must adhere to the following rules:
- Get rid of negative emotions. Resentment, anger, dissatisfaction, irritation and other negative feelings interfere with making logical decisions necessary in working with the subconscious.
- To use your subconscious mind correctly, guide your brain in the right direction by monitoring and adjusting your thoughts every day.
- Get rid of stereotypes. You should not follow all the advice of other people, because each person's life experience is unique and may not be suitable for you specifically. If it is important for you to learn how to use the subconscious, remember: self-development requires spiritual transformation, and not submission to established concepts.
- Do not hurry. Managing the subconscious takes time and hard work on oneself. An immediate reaction is a very rare occurrence in the initial stages.
- Get enough sleep. Sleep is a source of vitality and energy necessary to accomplish great things. Fatigue accumulated during the day slows down the body's functionality.
- How to use the subconscious in decision making? Take breaks to rest. You cannot work for a long time without a break. The optimal number of rest breaks is three to four times a day for 10–20 minutes. This is enough to organize your thoughts. A cozy atmosphere and pleasant music (classical compositions, sounds of nature, songs of your favorite bands) will help you relax.
- Do things that bring you joy. Your subconscious will be grateful for pleasant emotions. The more pleasure the body gets from what it does, the easier it will be to connect the outside world with the inside.
- Treat your subconscious mind like a business partner who needs to be paid for services. Don't forget to count on yourself. Payment may be a trivial word of praise or a small gift. If you pamper yourself, your subconscious mind is satisfied.
- Treat yourself early, not at the last minute. A good mood is a great motivator. You need to encourage yourself not only after completing work, but also before doing something planned.
- Don't bother fulfilling other people's wishes. You need to achieve your own goals. If you keep a small diary and write down your dreams there, it will help you navigate faster. Refer to the list when you are about to perform a task to make sure it is necessary.
- Practice trance (a process during which the state of consciousness changes). Complete relaxation is recommended not only during periods of physical or mental stress, but also on vacation. We must remember that the brain is always working. Regular trances contribute to better concentration on the sensations and emotions experienced at one time or another.
- Evaluate your life. For this, it is convenient to use a 10- or 100-point scale. If you are completely satisfied with your life, feel free to give it the maximum rating. If the scores seem too low, there is reason to think about which area is working in the wrong direction and how to improve the situation.
Examples of replacing negative attitudes with positive ones
Let's look at examples of replacing negative attitudes with positive ones:
In order to earn good money, you need to work for days. | Money is earned easily. I can get a lot of money and have a lot of rest. I earn more and more, but work less and less. |
Spiritual people don't think about money. | Money is warm energy, everyone needs it. Money helps you do good. Money reveals the good soul of a person. |
Relationships are a cage. | Relationships can be harmonious and built on trust. In a relationship, both partners are free and independent individuals. Relationships are fun and easy. |
All men cheat. | There are many faithful men around. Loyalty is a conscious choice of a person. There are many happy couples in the world where the man is faithful to his woman. |
I get sick every spring. | I feel great at any time of the year. I have a strong immune system. I am absolutely healthy and full of energy. |
All doctors only want money. | We have many honest and competent doctors. I only come across sensitive and knowledgeable doctors. The most important thing for a doctor is the patient’s health. |
There is no such thing as true friendship. | Friendship between people exists. People know how to be friends for years. There are many people in the world who know how to be sincere friends. |
Friendship only happens in childhood. | Adults know how to be friends. Friendship does not depend on age. As an adult you can find friends. |
If I rest, I'm wasting my time. | When I rest, I recharge my energy for the future. Rest is an important component of life. You can and should rest. |
If you relax, then in style. | A great vacation can be different. You can relax anywhere and everywhere. Lying on the bed is also relaxation. |
All people have their limitations. They just need to be detected and replaced with promoting installations. Then your thinking will change, and with it your reality. After all, it all starts with the head.
Consciousness and subconsciousness
To understand how to get rid of negative programs, you first need to understand how the mechanism of human perception with its conscious and unconscious components works.
- It is believed that consciousness is a biological function of the brain that allows an individual to receive information about the world around him and about himself. Thanks to consciousness, a person can lead active life activities: thought processes, setting and realizing goals, analyzing situations, etc. Consciousness is a programmer: a thinking, creative component that is responsible for self-realization in society.
- The subconscious is a biological function of the human brain, which is responsible for mental processes that occur without reflection in consciousness and in addition to conscious control. The subconscious is responsible for preserving life in environmental conditions: the instinct of self-preservation, the coordinated work of all body systems. The subconscious is a database plus an ultra-fast computer for accumulating, processing and providing information at the right time.
This system is built in such a way that the subconscious accumulates information about past events in a person’s life, and when a person finds himself in a similar (similar) situation, the consciousness receives impulses coming from the subconscious, processes them and, based on this information, directs the person along a certain path.
It turns out that a person consciously makes exactly the decision that corresponds to the subconscious programs and attitudes embedded in him. Thus, successful people continue to be successful, and unsuccessful people remain unsuccessful.
Negative attitudes and their examples

If you are used to expecting bad things from life, you don’t hope for pleasant meetings or success, then you are probably controlled by negative attitudes. They act unconsciously even before you begin to think about what is happening and try to make a decision.
Negative attitudes are formed constantly and gradually. Many of them go back to early childhood, when you heard from your parents how dirty, clumsy, and sloppy you are. Then I probably faced accusations from friends and teachers at school.
People who have not been able to overcome the feeling of their own inferiority tend to instill in their children and others attitudes that form a negative attitude towards the world and a loser complex.
By the way, they are often included in proverbs. For example, remembering that “one man in the field is no warrior,” you, left alone in the face of a problem, convince yourself that you will never solve it. In kindergartens and schools they love to regal children with such depressing phrases.
The opinions of others are layered with one’s own experience. You tried to become popular at school, dreamed of winning competitions, the Olympics, but you were never successful. As a result, you got used to thinking that you won’t be able to do anything good, that the world is against you.
Examples of negative attitudes:
- I won't succeed anyway;
- There is nothing to love me for;
- Even if success awaits me now, then I will still stumble on the straight spot;
- I cannot trust others because each of them may have a knife hidden in their pocket;
- Nothing good awaits me in my personal life - the guy will still leave for someone else;
- Even if I graduate from university, I won’t find a well-paid job;
- Like my mother, I will grow up to be a failure.
All these settings can be activated at very different moments in life. When you get a job, meet a guy, or just wash your car. Believe me, in the latter case you will easily hose yourself down and as a result you will not be able to go on a date.
Attitudes influence your behavior, influence your thoughts, and determine your emotions.
