A question that puzzles everyone at first. It’s as if no one had thought about this before. And then everyone answers based on their own beliefs and values. Why does a person live?
- to love and be loved;
- give birth and raise children, continue your family line;
- for myself;
- to be happy.
What if none of the items on this list apply?
I have everything: a family - children and a husband, healthy parents, a favorite job, a hobby. Everything is fine. However, the joy of this ends exactly at the moment when I begin to think: “Why? What is the point?" I will reach heights in my career, raise children and grandchildren, travel around the world, and then what? After all, everything will pass and be forgotten. Everything will end someday.
Which generation is already born, lives and dies, but no one still knows what the essence of the process is. Is it really necessary to just pass the time until you die?
IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS SIMPLICITY
Dawkins did not find out the origin of the Universe: this question was of little interest to him. In principle, he has nothing against the Big Bang theory, because it is no worse than any other. He believes that the Universe can be viewed as a pulsating object, either expanding or contracting into a microscopic point, or as a spiral closed on itself. These are all secondary issues. The bottom line is that the Universe initially looks like a children's construction set, where the role of cubes is played by atoms that are very similar to each other, which, interlocking with each other, create more and more complex shapes such as stars, planets or, for example, a protein.
Scientific point of view on human purpose
Darwin's theory of evolution called the primacy of the church into question. This was due to the fact that humanity received another version explaining the appearance of life on Earth. And if at first only a few agreed with this theory, then as science developed, its adherents became more and more numerous.
But how does science look at the issue we are discussing? Why does man live on earth? In general, everything is quite simple. Since man evolved from an animal, their goals are similar. What is the most important thing for every living organism? That's right, procreation.
That is, from a scientific point of view, the meaning of life lies in finding a reliable partner, reproducing offspring and caring for them in the future. After all, this is the only way to save a species from extinction and ensure a bright future.
Feeding the demonic hordes
The second hypothesis about our “need and usefulness” in this world, from the point of view of human ambitions, is even worse. If in the first one people act as draft animals, then in the second one they act as “meat animals”. This is how other space aliens used us. The Russian philosopher Daniil Andreev describes them in his famous book “The Rose of the World”. He claims that the system of human ideas about good and evil, about greed, complacency, inertia, isolation, cowardice and the like was given to humanity by demonic hordes rushing through space. They found shelter in the space surrounding the Earth and replaced the mind originally given to us, capable of an unusually complete awareness of the world, with a surrogate of low depth and power. These predators, according to D. Andreev, feed on the energy of human suffering, and they appeared on Earth not from star systems, but from other dimensions. Do we have any reason? There are other views on this problem. For example, in Eastern philosophical and religious teachings, seven states of cosmic matter are distinguished. Each of them forms its own cosmic sphere. And only the seventh, the lowest and roughest - our physical world is visible to the human eye, the rest are not. The six higher states are inaccessible to us. The sixth sphere adjacent to us is called the subtle world, or the world of feelings, emotions, desires. The creatures of this world, inaccessible to human organs of perception, are nevertheless material. The connecting element of gross organic life with these entities is the human soul, or astral body. In Eastern religions, it is the organizer of behavior and the entire life of an individual. - moving from body to body, accumulates experience and, having achieved perfection, retires to heaven. Consequently, our soul is nothing more than a representative of the entities of the subtle world. It temporarily lives in us and pursues the same goal as, say, a person sitting in the cab of a tractor - to obtain the maximum amount of the product he needs. What kind of products are these? By answering this question, we will automatically understand the purpose of humanity.
God's plan, or Why do people live on the plan?
You can’t talk about the meaning of life without touching on the topic of religion. After all, all existing beliefs have their own opinion on this issue. Their sacred texts give clear instructions on how one should spend one's life and what is the highest good for a person.
So, let's look at the most common denominations.
- Christianity. According to the New Testament, all people are born to live a righteous life, which will give them a place in heaven. Therefore, their meaning in life is to serve the Lord and also to be merciful to others.
- Islam. Muslims are not too far removed from Christians; their faith is also based on serving God, only this time to Allah. In addition, every true Muslim must spread his faith and fight the “infidels” with all his might.
- Buddhism. If you ask a Buddhist: “Why does a person live?”, he will most likely answer: “To become enlightened.” This is precisely the goal that all followers of Buddha pursue: to purify their minds and move to nirvana.
- Hinduism. Everyone has a divine spark - Atman, thanks to which a person is reborn after death in a new body. And if he behaved well in this life, then at the next rebirth he will become happier or richer. The highest goal of existence is to break the circle of rebirth and indulge in oblivion, which gives pleasure and peace.
ABOUT ETERNAL QUESTIONS
Why is man mortal?
Read also: How to choose an air washer
Because he has genes that program his death at the age of 80-90 years. This is disadvantageous for humans, it is disadvantageous for other genes, but it is beneficial for the mortality genes themselves, because that is their essence. Many plants, for example, live forever, constantly budding and re-rooting. But the DNA of animals is based on replicators charged with self-destruction. Both methods of existence turned out to be quite convenient: in the first case, genes remain in the same organism for thousands of years, and in the second, they simply jump into new (possibly even improved) bodies of subsequent generations.
Why are women so capricious?
Dawkins devoted an entire chapter of his work to this topic. He believes that a reasonable genetic program is at work here: no lady hysterics - only pure diet. Initially, when mating, a woman invests more in procreation than a male. He provides one pitiful sperm for this task, of which he has billions; the woman sacrifices a large egg filled with nutrients, of which she is given only a few hundred for the rest of her life. And then the complete exploitation of the woman begins: she bears the child, literally feeding him with her body, then she breastfeeds him, spending several years on all this.
From the point of view of his genes, it is completely unprofitable for a man to sit next to his partner at this time, even if there is a risk that she alone will not cope with all this and the child will die. This is a small loss for a man. During this time, he can manage to impregnate a hundred other women, and even if only a tenth of the offspring survives, he will still win. But the genes contained in women's bodies are also not foolproof. In most species with a long pregnancy and feeding, the female requires a long courtship from the male. Before she allows him to reach her egg, she will drain the soul out of him. And the more time and effort a male spends on courtship, the more profitable it is for him to then stay with this female and help her raise her offspring. After all, any other female will harass him no less, and the guy risks losing, having spent a lot of effort and never leaving any heirs.
How often do we think about why a person is born and lives?
The most carefree time is childhood. During this period, we all run around like crazy around our homesteads, pretending to be pirates, superheroes, robots. Thousands of amazing ideas may swarm in our heads, but there is not a single question about the meaning of life. And why?
And only after crossing the threshold of adolescence does a person begin to look for an answer to it. “Why does a person live? What is its purpose? What is the meaning of my life? - all these questions troubled the hearts of each of us. But some quickly threw them away, switching to more pressing problems, while others, on the contrary, spent their whole lives in search of undeniable truth.
Viktor Frankl's concept and psychology
The meaning of human life became a central category in the theory of psychologist and philosopher Viktor Frankl. He developed his concept while experiencing terrible suffering in a German concentration camp, and this gives special weight to his thoughts. He says that there is no abstract meaning of life that is common to everyone. Each person has his own, unique one. Moreover, meaning cannot be found once and for all; it is always a requirement of the moment. The main guide of a person in search of global goals of existence is conscience. It is she who helps to evaluate every action in the aspect of overall life meaning. On the path to its acquisition, a person, according to V. Frankl, can follow three paths: the path of creative values, attitude values and experiential values. The loss of the meaning of life leads to inner emptiness, an existential vacuum.
Answering the question of why people are born, Frankl notes that it is to search for meaning and for oneself. More recent psychologists say that the search for meaning in life and its acquisition are the most important motivational mechanisms. A person who has found the answer to the main question lives a more productive and happy life.
Arthur Schopenhauer's concept
The 19th century saw a surge in thinking about the purpose of human existence. Arthur Schopenhauer's irrational concept offers a new approach to solving this problem. The philosopher believes that the meaning of human life is just an illusion, with the help of which people are saved from the terrible thought of the purposelessness of their existence. In his opinion, the world is governed by absolute will, which is indifferent to the fate of individual people. A person acts under the pressure of circumstances and the will of others, so his existence is a real hell, a chain of continuous suffering, replaced by each other. And in search of meaning in this endless series of suffering, people come up with religion, philosophy, the meaning of life in order to justify their existence and make it at least relatively bearable.
A pragmatic approach to determining the meaning of life
Reflecting on the purpose for which we come into this world, William James and his fellow pragmatists come to the conclusion that meaning and purpose are equal. The world is irrational, and it is futile to look for objective truths in it. Therefore, pragmatists believe that the meaning of life is commensurate only with a person’s success in life. Everything that leads to success has value and meaning. The presence of meaning in life can only be assessed and identified by applying the criterion of usefulness and profitability. Therefore, this concept often appears in a subsequent assessment of the life of another person.
Worldview and mentality: contradictions at the global level
Everything that happens in society as a whole is also not “chaos”, but is subject to certain laws of mass psychology. To the question of why a person needs a person, there is an answer that is more global than our particular, personal cases.
Mentality has a significant influence on each of us: these are the features of worldview, world observation, worldview that have developed in a certain space among a large community of people.
Thus, people born in some Islamic countries have an anal mentality. It is characterized by patriarchy and traditional values: family life, reverence for elders.
In America and Europe there is a skin mentality. He is characterized by rational pragmatism, considerations of utility and benefit. There is a characteristic distance between people. Relations between people within the state are regulated by law and order. But everything outside is perceived as “prey.”
The people of the post-Soviet space also experience the world in their own way: we have a unique, communal-collectivist urethral mentality. It implies the priority of society over the individual. The law is not written to us - you cannot limit the sweeping Russian soul to it. We are regulated only by shame in front of other people. There are no distances between us, such as in the West. With us, everything is personal: a person can wholeheartedly crush your nose in a fight, and half an hour later, for a dear soul, eat and drink together at the same table. And also sincerely and from the heart. For an American, rational consideration will be primary, and for a Russian, it will be a heartfelt impulse.
If you take the average American, he doesn’t care what actually happens outside his country. And he cannot go beyond the natural distance that is inherent in his mentality. But we are built differently.
It is we who respond with our hearts to everything that happens in the world. We care about what happens around us. Therefore, the unique task of revealing and comprehending the unity of the species is assigned by nature to the Russian people. Sound people, born in a country with a urethral mentality, are trying to make sense of this connection between us all. They wonder why we are so different, but still need each other.
The answers are revealed when there is basic, fundamental knowledge about the nature of connections between people. This is fully revealed by the training “System-vector psychology” by Yuri Burlan. It describes in detail the properties of all eight vectors of the psyche and the unique role of each of them. Both at the micro level (in the life of a particular person) and at the macro level (in the interaction of large communities of people).
To master this knowledge means to realize oneself as successfully as possible among other people. Get connections with others that will bring you joy. They will allow you to build a truly happy life.
And for sound engineers, this is also a unique opportunity to apply their abstract intellect, to direct their search to the area that today determines the future of all humanity. And this means finally feeling with your heart and understanding with your mind that you were born at exactly the right time and in the right place. And clearly understand why.

Bottom line
Returning to our question: “What is the meaning of human existence?” - the answer is the following: a person must grow as much spiritually as possible during his current life, that is, compact the body of the spirit, for example, with good deeds, deeds, emotions and adjust its surface so that it becomes smooth without holes and depressions.
It is the Spirit that is the invisible observer who accompanies a person throughout his life. All our ups and downs depend on it, since everything we sow is ultimately reaped, and we begin to think and, accordingly, change for the better only when illnesses or problems begin to completely overcome us.
