The film depicts the true story of the life of American entrepreneur Chris Gardner. Namely, the most difficult and at the same time important period, in which he tries to cope with all the trials of fate every day.
The director and actors did their best. They conveyed the feeling of hopelessness of the main character in such a way that in some places it is difficult to watch the film without tears.
In my opinion, this is the most inspiring, life-affirming and motivational film. The only one that always makes me (an 18-year-old guy) cry.
Quote from the film:
“Don’t listen to anyone who says you can’t do something... not even me.”

Imagine your brain working at super-high speed and churning out all the information you've ever read, seen, or heard. The brain of Eddie Morr, the main character of the film, is capable of this.
The picture can be perceived as a step-by-step guide from a successful person. After all, the film shows how and what you need to do to become a genius. Be neat, play sports, constantly develop and much more.

Before watching, I thought that this was a typical film about a guy’s difficult and thorny path to success. So it turned out, but in this picture I was struck by the presentation itself.
Great game by J.K. Simmons, which enriched an already wonderful movie. For this role he deserves the Best Supporting Actor award.
On the one hand, this is a story about two heroes who have nothing in life except music. It replaces everything for them: friendship, love, sex. On the other hand, some people don't even have this.
Quote from the film:
“There is no more harmful and dangerous word in the world than well done.”

“The Truman Show” is a psychological parable about overcoming those attitudes that we have been stuffed with since childhood. The character and will of the parents, public morality, the surrounding way of life and a host of other things.
According to the plot, the main character of the film understands that all his life he lived within the framework of a separate show, in a circle of fake people. He struggles to escape from this world that completely dictates his fate.
In the end, it turns out that Truman is the happiest person in this picture. Unlike the others, he lived his own life all this time.
This is rather a product for intellectuals. But it takes its rightful place among the best films of the last century.

While most of the films on this list are a success story, this one is the opposite. All the goals and landmarks of the main characters are already behind. Life is ending, but they still haven’t tried much in so many years.
Such stories make you think about the meaning of life and appreciate every moment, filling it with meaning.
After watching it, I came to the conclusion that if you are able to laugh a moment before death, then you didn’t live in vain.

Quote from the film:

Duration: 1 hour 47 minutes
The list of “Movies about self-development” includes this fantastic comedy. The film is very close to any person: we are often torn between family and work, it is difficult to determine priorities. The main character, Michael, is a successful architect, but he devotes more and more time to work and rarely sees his family, which leads to his wife’s dissatisfaction and domestic scandals.
One day he receives an amazing gift - a time control panel. Now he doesn’t have to spend his time in traffic jams or sit for a long time at work. How will he manage his time? Time management tasks are greatly simplified. But what happened during this time, and what conclusions will the hero draw? Such a remote control is the dream of any person who has to wait a long time and spend a lot of time working. Can he take control of everything and manage his time correctly? Because of the fear of making a mistake, we do not dare to take actions that could lead us to success. We are very afraid of failure: when meeting a girl, when opening our own business, etc. It is this fear that is the number 1 problem that the film is trying to convey to us.

"Adaptation"

Source:
The film, written by Charlie Kaufman, is about Charlie Kaufman's attempts to adapt the novel The Orchid Thief into a film adaptation. Some say that a script about a screenwriter is a complete failure of the film industry, others say that it is part of the metalanguage of our postmodern civilization. As the plot of Adaptation progresses, you'll also be introduced to the plot of The Orchid Thief - but don't ask how! As a bonus, this insightful film comes with an amazing cast.
About money:
Do you want to understand finance? Read books on financial literacy. Well, these films will show how money influences people.

Jordan Belfort founded one of the largest brokerage firms in 1987. But ten years later he was convicted of money laundering. After that, he dealt with alcohol and drug addiction, wrote two books, and now lectures on achieving success. This is a short biography of the man about whom The Wolf of Wall Street was filmed.
The Wolf of Wall Street is an autobiography adapted for a modern viewer. There is a lot of sex and drugs, but Belfort himself said that the film does not show half of his immoral life.
If you want to benefit from the film, consider it from the perspective of how money and power change a person.

“There is no vice in wealth. I have been a poor man and I have been a rich man. And every damn time I choose to be rich."

A Thousand Words (2012)
Starring:
- Eddie Murphy
- Kerry Washington
Duration: 1 hour 31 minutes
A comedy starring Eddie Murphy, it also belongs to the “Films about self-development” category. The film contains an excellent idea - every word of a person is valuable, and it is important to monitor your own speech. The main character, Jack, is a successful book agent who likes to persuade people to buy things and talks a lot without thinking about what he says.
But one day life changes dramatically - he meets an eastern sage, a guru, he decided to teach the young man a lesson, and gave him an amazing tree that grew on Zhek’s property. There are one thousand leaves on the tree, which is exactly how many words the hero can utter before the end of his life. How to live now?
It is necessary to learn to think about words, to constantly calculate their importance. The film is funny and comedic, but there is also a tragedy of human thoughtless existence. Why say unnecessary words, why hurt loved ones with words? We often forget: words carry special energy and influence people.
- And your wife? Does she know that you love her?
“I tell her about this all the time!”
- Words? More words, Jack! You tell them to her the same way those useless leaves fall from a tree. Words...Can't you SHOW her that you love her? Find peace of mind - show them how much you love them and be sincere.

"Detonator"
0
Source:
"Detonator" is an unusual and complex, perhaps even frighteningly complex film. Everything is mixed here - moral questions raised before the audience, the question “what would I do in such a situation?”, a sense of the reality of what is happening. In short, there is no denying that Detonator will make the viewer think when watching it!
Documentaries:

The film “The Secret” is truly capable of changing a person’s consciousness. He has already changed many lives. Here's one viewer's story:
“I watched this film back in 2012, when I worked on the railway. Then we had a competition for the best ticket cashier in Russia.
When preparing for the competition, living in a hotel, I woke up with only one thought - “I’m a winner!” I learned about this method from a movie.
And here's the finale. Me and another girl are standing on the stage. The winner is announced, drum roll... and I'm in second place. I couldn't believe it. All I had in my head were thoughts of disappointment and misunderstanding. How so? I used a secret. But still I had to go out and receive a prize for second place. After that, there were a lot of tears in the hotel.
But here's a surprise! A week later, a letter arrives that the girl was disqualified because she held another position and did not have the right to participate in the competition. And accordingly, a new list appeared, where I am the Winner. The secret worked!

Source:
Adapted from Cormac McCarthy's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Road explores a father-son relationship in a post-apocalyptic world. This is a story about dependence - and about hope: a boy completely relies on a man, following him. The man teaches the boy, gives him everything he needs and leads him, but to some extent he also relies on him. The boy is his motivation and meaning in life. Pirates of Silicon Valley
This is a film about the creators of two great companies: Apple and Microsoft. Many people want to build a business and earn millions, but few are able to go this route. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are not just brilliant guys who were in the right place at the right time. They had quite big ambitions and a willingness to go through thorns to the stars.
Yes, we may never be like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. For better or worse, the example of such people can give us acceleration in the right direction to achieve our goals.
Mr Selfridge
This is a series consisting of 4 seasons and is based on real events. Directors, screenwriters and actors show us the success story of Harry Gordon Selfridge. He was the first person to open supermarkets in Britain at the beginning of the 20th century. But when a new business is just getting started, it always faces a lot of obstacles.
The series immerses us in the features of the era, gives us an idea of the thinking of strategists and building a big business with our own hands from idea to implementation.
Wall Street
Another film about the stock exchange and big money that is worth watching. A dynamic, lively story, not overloaded with financial details, but well showing the work of traders on Wall Street. The main character graduated from a prestigious university and, like many young people, dreams of a dizzying career and a beautiful life. His mentor and teacher becomes a true master in the world of finance, without principles, pity or emotions, but with an uncontrollable desire for big money.

San Francisco, 1950s. Margaret is an artist and single mother trying to make ends meet. She meets the charming artist Walter Keene and soon becomes his wife. One day, the husband sells a painting to Margaret, introducing himself as the author of the work. And from this moment the story of deception begins, in which Walter becomes a successful and famous swindler, and his wife becomes a slave artist.
The retro film was directed by Tim Burton. In this work, he moved a little away from his usual style and showed us not the creepy world of fictional creatures, but real life. However, he told about this in a bizarre manner, which makes Margaret's story look somewhat fabulous.
By the way, Burton is a fan of Margaret Keane's work. And critics found some similarities between the artist’s paintings and the visuals of Burton’s films.
