Work plan
Since a person’s biography is full of events, you can talk about yourself endlessly. To prevent the essay from turning into a jumble of incoherent facts and thoughts, it is better to adhere to a specific plan when writing it. A short monologue about yourself may include the following points:
- General information: name, age, place of residence, appearance (briefly).
- Character: You can note both positive traits and those that need to be worked on.
- Hobbies: hobbies, various activities.
- Beliefs, values: in friendship, study, family, society.
- Goals in life: what do I want to become in the future.
This outline of the description is not strict - points may vary depending on the situation.
Milton Hershey
Milton Hershey worked in a candy factory from his youth. In 1876, at the age of eighteen, he opened his first store, but was not successful and was forced to close it. Next, Milton decided to work at another candy factory, where he learned a lot of new things. Further, in 1886, he launched a new store in Pennsylvania, which this time turned out to be successful and is currently operating.
A story about yourself
My name is Inga, I'm 16 years old. I live in Sevastopol, but was born in another city - Barnaul. My family and I moved here because my dad was offered an interesting and promising job in Crimea. I don’t regret it, because there is a sea here and it’s warm almost all year round. Of course, I miss my friends who remained in Siberia, but I often write them messages on social networks and letters.
I am of average height, slim. I have long dark hair and blue eyes. I like to dress comfortably: jeans, T-shirts, sneakers. I wear both dresses and skirts, but quite rarely, because my main motto is comfort.
My character
I would call my character light and cheerful. I am a smiling person, I like to laugh, joke, and I try to approach life with humor and positivity. I don’t hold grudges for a long time, because I’m not vindictive. I’m not an excellent student at school, but I study well and like to learn something new. For example, when we moved to Sevastopol, I first of all read the history of this glorious city with a heroic past. Among my own shortcomings, I would name restlessness and slight capriciousness, but I am working on these qualities.
Interests and hobbies
I am a keen person, so I have many different hobbies . As a child, I went to art school, but then I quit. Although I still love to draw, but then I was able to like photography more. I go to photography school and learn how to take professional photographs. In Crimea there are all the conditions for this: it is very beautiful here and there are many places that you want to capture in photos.
An important part of my life is music, or rather rhythm. I play the African drum - the djembe. This is simply an amazing musical instrument with a deep sound. There are a lot of people in Sevastopol who also like to play drums - sometimes we gather on the seashore and have jam parties. Any passerby can come here and dance while we play different rhythms - African, Cuban, Jamaican.
I also really like to read—not pulp novels or detective stories, but serious, good books. My favorite writers are Jack London, Ernest Hemingway, Anton Chekhov, Ilya Ilf and Evgeny Petrov, O'Henry, Ken Kesey, Jerome K. Jerome, Arthur Conan Doyle. Their works have everything that I love so much: reflections on life, humor, irony.
In Barnaul we had a large library, but when we moved we had to leave it. It’s a shame, because I really like paper books—they have a special charm. I love the smell of book pages and printing ink. Reading books from a tablet or laptop is not at all that interesting.
Another integral part of my life is dancing. Now I am visiting a modern dance studio - I like jazz-funk and hip-hop. This is a way of self-expression, an opportunity to express yourself without the help of words. Some of my friends say that they cannot dance, but this is not true - the ability to dance is inherent in us from birth.
Of course, like all people, I really love to travel. So far I haven’t been to many places, mainly in the cities of Siberia and Crimea, but in the future I plan to travel a lot around the world. I definitely want to visit Spain, Italy, France - these countries inspire me with their great culture and rich history.
My values
More than anything in the world, I value relationships with people . Family and friends are the most valuable thing a person has. Close people will always help, support you in difficult times, and encourage you with warm words. When I'm alone, I'm not very comfortable, so I spend a lot of time with friends - among them there are both boys and girls. I consider myself a good friend: if one of my friends is feeling bad, I always try to listen, console, and give useful advice. I love giving compliments, because when you say kind words to people, they blossom before our eyes. This is much better than judging and gossiping.
I also consider honesty to be one of the main qualities of a person. I can’t stand lies and try to always tell the truth. There must be sincerity in a relationship - only then can you truly trust each other. The person who betrayed you once will do it again.
But the most important thing in our world is love. Modern man really misses it. In cities you can often encounter rudeness, insults, rudeness and even hatred. Perhaps people have become too crowded with each other, because our planet is overpopulated. It seems to me that qualities such as leadership, the ability to manipulate people, manage them, and be better and more successful than someone are now more valued. Achieving success is, of course, also important, but, in my opinion, it is much more important to be merciful, kind and understanding.
My role model is Keanu Reeves. I like him not only as a talented actor, but also as a person. Despite the fact that he is world famous, Keanu does not suffer from star fever: he never behaves arrogantly and does not look down on ordinary people. He also dresses normally, does not chase famous brands - in life he is a very modest and pleasant person.
But most importantly, Keanu does a lot of charity work and helps people who need help. But he does not shout about his noble deeds at every corner, as many stars do. Keanu has a good heart and that's something I admire.
Whom I want to become
I haven't decided yet what I want to become in the future. I have many hobbies and interests, and it is difficult to choose just one. Perhaps I will become a professional photographer and photograph weddings, birthdays and other important events. It would be nice to combine photography and travel, for example, traveling around the world and taking photographs for magazines like National Geographic. Of course, this is just a dream for now - to receive an offer from such a large and well-known magazine, you need to have a lot of experience.
I also think about the profession of a writer or journalist. I think I have the right qualities for this: I like to communicate with people, I read a lot and write well. At school, my essays were often read to the whole class. Apparently I have a gift for writing. Perhaps I will be a travel blogger and can write about different parts of the world that I will visit.
Be that as it may, I want my future profession to be interesting, creative and related to movement, because I am a creative and energetic person - it will be very difficult for me to sit all day in a stuffy office and look at a computer screen. I also want my work to bring joy, inspiration and a lot of positive emotions to other people. I think this is the best reward for what a person does.

Tips for students
Although the form of such essays is usually free, there are several general recommendations that will help schoolchildren and students write a good essay about themselves:
- Before work, draw up a presentation plan - it will help you not to get lost in the jungle of thoughts and maintain the sequence of the story.
- Write interestingly: the narrative style should be lively, beautiful, and not dry and clerical. Use humor, epithets, metaphors, and other techniques to make it fun to read about you. Write about your dreams, views, express your own opinion.
- Don't brag, but don't belittle your merits either. Write about your shortcomings too - after all, no one will believe that you are an ideal person.
- Be sure to check your essay for errors - spelling, punctuation, stylistics. A competent, structured and logical text will make a good impression on the reader.
Essays reflecting on oneself are very useful for adult life. During interviews, applicants are often asked: “Tell me briefly about yourself.” And although almost any person has a rich inner world and an interesting biography, this question drives many into a stupor. Therefore, already from school, it is important to learn to present yourself correctly, highlight your strengths and know your life values and goals.
What is a goal?
To achieve a goal, you need to set it correctly for yourself. What is a goal? And this is the object that denotes the result. That is, this is what should happen at the end of the necessary manipulations or actions. For example, a person wants to learn to swim. This is already a goal. And its process will be called special classes with the help of which a person will learn to conquer the waves.
For a goal to arise, you need to set it. There are two ways to set it up. The first, direct, involves the appearance and planning of achieving a goal. The second, indirect, first reveals the process in which the whole essence of actions becomes clear. That is, the goal itself is outlined.
It also happens that achieving a goal is not the end result, but may continue if there are still unfulfilled tasks that are in contact with the completed task. Such goals are called intermediate goals. So, in order to get a job as a driver (the main task), you must have a license and be able to drive a car. These two goals that need to be achieved will be intermediate, because they need to be achieved in order to become a driver. But getting a job as a driver is the main goal, for the sake of which other manipulations are carried out and secondary functions are achieved.
Stephen King
This famous and acclaimed American writer began his career with a literary novel that was rejected thirty times. Because of this, he decided to throw it in the trash. But his wife advised him to continue to work on his work, to improve it, and thus the novel Carrie was born. Currently, many of his works have already been filmed, for example, “Despair”.
Soichiro Honda
He was born in 1906 in Japan, and began working in his father's bicycle workshop as a child. At age eighteen, he built his first race car, and at age twenty-two, he opened an auto parts business for Toyota. Unfortunately, all his efforts were destroyed by World War II as his factory was damaged. Later, he had the idea to put an old radio motor on a bicycle, and this is how the Honda A-Type was born - the first invention of the Honda Motor Company.
Thus, all these people managed to achieve tremendous success after a series of failures.
