The film is about how a callous Englishman in the cozy landscapes of France sells his family business to cunning Americans. And this international deal was filmed by one of the kings of epic films, Ridley Scott. But there will be no epicness in this film - it’s about the soul, about good wine and about what makes life worth living.
The main character spent his summer holidays at his uncle's winery in Provence. In a sunny paradise, the boy learned to appreciate simple things, to be sincere and to live honestly, but London quickly washed all this warm French optimism out of the guy. Max grew up and became a stock trader: the smell of croissants and grapes was replaced by the smell of money and expensive suits. Uncle Henry dies either from old age or from his nephew's disappointment, and Max flies to Provence to sell the family business. Falling into an empty pool helps Max return to Uncle Max's lessons - now the hero has to rise from the bottom in every sense.

There is hardly a person who at least once would not like to relive some of his happy moments. Graduation, wedding, travel to another country, first kiss, the day when a loved one returned from the hospital, trip or army. It would be cool to be able to go back in time to re-experience the emotions of such events (just without the excesses, like in Black Mirror). Max, the main character of this film, has been filming his life since the age of thirteen and, on the threshold of his fortieth birthday, decided to rewind his biography from the very beginning. The memories displayed on the screen look completely different from those in memory, and a twenty-year family chronicle pushes Max to deep introspection and an attempt to correct mistakes that the man had no idea about before.

Bruce Springsteen is a legend of American rock and roll of the 70s. The leader of the E-Street Band won a Grammy twenty times, received a Tony Award, and even managed to win an Oscar and a Golden Globe (for the soundtrack to the film Philadelphia). And in 2019, an emotional teenage drama was filmed about the music of this cult performer and composer, where a boy from a Pakistani refugee family in London learns to be himself.
Javed grows up in a patriarchal family, and his dad is not happy that his son wants to be a humanitarian. Javed writes excellent essays, wins literary competitions and suffers like Turgenev. This teenager desperately wants to realize himself, but the father stubbornly refuses to accept his child’s choice. Then Javed finds someone who sincerely understands him - Bruce Springsteen. In the rock star's lyrics, the guy recognizes himself and finally begins to live.

Danny Maccoby was about to get married, but at the last moment he found out that his beloved bride was not only cheating on him, but also considered Danny her ugly startup. The unfortunate guy, abandoned at the altar, goes to the nearest bar and meets a girl there. The stranger sees the ring on her finger, and Danny tells his random companion a dramatic story about a tyrant wife, adding to the fiction for completeness the tragedies of orphans, beatings and infidelity. The new friend was so impressed that she decided to increase the capital of her good deeds by consoling the unfortunate guy from the bar. Pity gave birth to a real monster: Danny began to use his wedding ring and creepy stories about his monster wife to get support from sensitive girls. Connor immediately has difficulties communicating with the director and classmates, and then the guy comes to class wearing brown shoes instead of the required black ones - it’s time to break the system and form a rock band. Sing Street is the third musical dramedy in John Carney's career, and Once in a Lifetime is the second and probably the most famous.
Gretta James wanders around New York like an abandoned kitten and tries to heal her broken heart with the help of music. Gretta really got dumped - the heroine is going through a breakup with her rocker boyfriend, who has gone headlong into commerce and forgotten that music is actually about the soul, and not about money and fame. Gretta herself sings and composes only for herself and does not want to sell herself to greedy managers. With this approach, she belongs on the street - that’s what former record label manager Dan decides. The man saw (or heard) Gretta’s talent even through a protracted binge and decided to make a celebrity out of the fragile performer. And instead of boring studios, the guys chose a live venue to record the album - New York. No money, no professional musicians, no ambitions - just a sincere desire to fill the world with music.

A cozy old American comedy in which you can see a couple of stylish looks. The plot here is based on "The Prince and the Pauper": two girls, very similar to each other, meet by chance and decide to switch places. One of them lives in a luxurious mansion with a millionaire dad and an evil stepmother; the other is in a shelter with a kind and understanding teacher. At first, no one notices the substitution, because the girls have identical appearances, but soon the difference in character reveals the scam. Quiet and modest Alyssa, raised in an all-inclusive environment, will have fun surprises at the shelter, such as a toad in her bed and pasta on her face. Well, for orphan Amanda, no less of a challenge will be the number of cutlery on the table and the request to play the piano. Having played enough of each other, Amanda and Alyssa suddenly realize that they can also drag their guardians into their deception, and the girls have a new goal - to marry Amanda’s teacher and Alyssa’s father.

An excellent choice for those who don’t mind frequent vulgar jokes and light script nonsense. Many people believe that if you rub a sculpture in the subway or put a coin under your heel, you will catch not a fungus, but good luck. And in such “lucky” rituals, Charlie the dentist plays the role of a prop: as soon as any woman sleeps with this guy, the lucky woman will soon get married. It is not surprising that at some point Charlie's bedroom, car and office turned into places of pilgrimage. But the hero himself is fed up with such a conveyor belt of other people’s happiness: Charlie has fallen in love, and in order not to lose his girlfriend, he needs to get rid of his curse.

"Uninvited Guests"
"Baby, it's wedding season!" And by that we mean it's time to watch or re-watch this hilarious masterpiece caricature of modern weddings. In it, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson play two best friends who spend the summer showing up uninvited to strangers' weddings. Until they find themselves at one, where they find themselves in a difficult situation along with the whole family who organized the holiday. At times this film is hopelessly sentimental and tender, but there are several storylines that have remained relevant after 15 years. A film with a strange name will tell you how strange we are. Why do some people want marriage and others don't? Why do those who want choose those who don't? Why do even those who want, then basically don’t want anything? And what do men and women actually want from each other? There will be a lot of complex issues here, but this movie is easy to watch: the popular actors look very natural in the roles of very ordinary people, and the scenery of the events looks cozy and welcoming. And even when someone does something bad, a karmic “ah-ah-ah” always comes to him.

Of course, we understand that, first of all, Noah Baumbach's story about a marriage destroyed from the inside is, first of all, tears that do not need to be afraid. But the film is incredibly funny in places. Nicole (Scarlett Johansson) and Charlie (Adam Driver) play a creative couple trying to deal with the emotions at the end of their relationship, going through a custody battle over their son, and despite the best intentions, the story gets very nasty at times. The film's main criticism of the American legal system is given by two brilliant and sarcastic performances - the couple's lawyers, Laura Dern (Oscar for her absolutely toxic Nora Fanshawe) and her opponent Ray Liotta.

Well, the scenario here is a cupcake without raisins and other interesting toppings. Erin and Garrett meet in a New York bar and spend six weeks together, after which Erin must return home to San Francisco. The novel was intended as temporary entertainment, but after a month and a half the guys got so used to each other that they decided to try to stretch their feelings over four thousand kilometers. Now Garrett and Erin face Skype calls, long weekend trips, an eternal search for compromise, and the absolute disapproval of friends and family. And while the audience looks at the relationship of the heroes to the pop (but very good) soundtrack, the heroes repeat the same question in the background: “Is it worth it?”

"Lady Bird"
Greta Gerwig's drama about a pretentious but charming teenager who demands her family name her Ladybug was a breakthrough. Gerwig's directorial debut vividly reflects all the vicissitudes of late adolescence - it is a war to victory between parents and children. Saoirse Ronan's lead role is great in its own right, but the sparring matches between her and her mother (played to perfection by Laurie Metcalf) are pure comedy, such as the scene in which Ladybug falls out of a car at full speed. Timothée Chalamet, Lucas Hedges and Beanie Feldstein also performed brilliantly in their roles.

A film in the style of Love Actually and Valentine's Day: lots of Hollywood stars, some touching stories and an ending that should give viewers all the symptoms of a runny nose, from red eyes to a runny nose. Moreover, the love here is not only the kind that is in rom-coms: it will also be about moms, dads, children, and about love for life, for profession and for your dreams. And all this in the familiar atmosphere of the most magical night of the year. Only the heroes are in no hurry to cut Olivier salad and beautifully arrange tangerines: someone will think about how to run away on a date with a boy from a parallel class, someone will get stuck in the elevator before an important performance, someone will get ready for a journey with an unpredictable finish, and someone... then he will remember that it’s high time to take care of his wish list - urgently visit Bali and adopt a puppy. The 2000 film, starring Jason Statham as a boxer and Brad Pitt as a rugged wanderer, is Guy Ritchie's classic sitcom crime comedy, packed with disparaging one-liners. “Should I call you bullet teeth?” Avi Denovitz asks character Vinnie Jones in one scene. “You can call me Susan if it makes you happy,” he replies sarcastically. In many ways, the film sets itself the same goals and objectives as Ritchie’s previous film, “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” but “Snatch” imprinted a very British and very funny sarcasm in the history of cinema.

Natalie always believed that rom-coms were placebos for losers, the recipe of which included only stupid clichés and stupid characters with pink pudding for brains. But ironically, a chance meeting with a man on the subway made the girl change her views. In the middle of the last century, Julia Child revolutionized American cooking: she taught women from the states to cook something other than turkey for Christmas and macaroni and cheese the other 364 days of the year. Well, jokes aside, Julia really opened up a fundamentally new way of looking at cooking for American housewives when she published the book “Mastering the Art of French Cuisine.” The immersion in the land of fashion was so deep that some of the recipes in this culinary bible took up to ten pages. But the film is not entirely about that: this movie will tell how in the early 2000s, call center operator Julie Powell prepared real happiness based on Child’s cult book. A woman revitalized her tiny Ikea kitchen, learned to accept herself and looked at her husband in a new way. Well, she became famous thanks to her blog, in which she talked about how “beef bourguignon” and “tarte tatin” were born among Chinese delivery and McDonald’s.

This is an almost frame-by-frame remake of the 2013 Spanish film Gloria, created by the original director Sebastian Lelio in collaboration with the indie studio A24, which has several hits (for example, the TV series Euphoria and the film The Lighthouse). The main character, stunningly played by Julianne Moore, is a middle-aged divorcee enjoying the life, freedom and parties of Los Angeles until she meets a soul mate with whom she begins a rocky relationship. The film has a rather light narrative, turning the typical serious theme of single women into a comedy, sometimes reminiscent of classic films about male adventures, and it is done in the best possible way.

The film is based on real events. In 1988, in Alaska, three whales, one of which was only nine months old, were trapped: the ice around them froze and the animals were cut off from the open sea. If not for a chance meeting with a local hunter, the whales would have been doomed to death, but the man did not pass by and decided to help the giants at any cost. Soon the local media, the US government and even Soviet icebreakers joined the savior. For three weeks, all of America watched the operation on the news, and the residents of Alaska did everything possible to prevent the ice prisoners from dying. And it was not all in vain: the concern of one person was transmitted by an electrical impulse to hundreds of others, and as a result, the animals were saved. And it doesn’t matter that Operation Breakthrough cost a million dollars, and scientists did facepalm en masse - the main thing is that the whales survived, and the people remained Humans.

Based on the book of the same name by Michael Lewis (author of Liar's Poker and Moneyball), the film tells the story of the 2008 financial crisis and subprime mortgage fraud in America. Despite the book's complex subject matter, director Adam McKay succeeds in adapting it in a funny way. Chameleon Christian Bale plays Michael Burry, an eccentric ex-doctor and investor who bet on the mortgage market and made millions. The sharp script keeps the entire film in suspense; even complex financial slang does not scare you, as Margot Robbie explains it while lying in the bathtub.

Not every entertaining film can be called superficial and secondary in its script, but this one is just like that. There is no need to strain your brain at all here, but for young parents who have only recently plunged into all the delights of a sleepless, half-starved and hyper-anxious life, this movie is perfect for lifting the mood and evening relaxation.
A blonde with Christmas box puppy eyes, an athletic girl who is used to living with her head and being in control, and a demure girl with the face of Amy Farah Fowler - all three are preparing for prom and planning to lose their virginity before college. Teenagers approach this responsibly, realize the importance of the moment and do not forget about safety, but parents of graduates still think that in matters of sex it is better either late or never.

A film from the series “It couldn’t be more banal, but there’s something here.” And there are two very pretty faces here who give good acting - a key component of success for a rom-com.
Jamie was recently dumped by his boyfriend and Dylan was recently dumped by his girlfriend. Both heroes are tired of the relationship and no longer want to hear reproaches and complaints from the opposite sex. But, on the other hand, in crowded New York, the guys want a little human warmth. Dylan and Jamie find the optimal solution - a relationship that is limited to bed. No trips to the movies, thorny roses, or dinners together. Well, only if you really wanted to eat, the cinema showed a film by your favorite director, and roses were on sale. In general, the plan for an ideal relationship failed at the idea stage, and this is clear to everyone except the heroes themselves.

A film in which worthy people live ordinary lives and make the audience not only smile, but also respect. And there will also be a good reminder that you shouldn’t put off your life on a dusty shelf “later” or an unreliable “tomorrow”. Never better than now.
The story here is told in flashbacks: a young man, Oliver, remembers his father Hal, who had been married for decades and only came out after the death of his wife. At seventy years old, Hal finally decides to live for himself, but suddenly hears a terrible diagnosis - cancer. And currently, Oliver is trying to build a relationship with a pretty French woman, who is often forced to remain silent due to laryngitis. And Oliver’s mother sometimes fell into psychosis, so it was very difficult to support an affair for the son of a closeted gay man and an emotionally unstable woman - there was no healthy example.
And the film seems to be made about sheer pain and injustice, but the characters treat all the difficulties and cruelties with philosophical irony, and the audience can only surrender to the undying optimism of the characters.

"Birdman"
The film, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, won four Oscars in 2015: best picture, best director, best screenplay and best cinematography. This again showed how much Hollywood loves movies about Hollywood, even if those movies make fun of Hollywood. A documentary chronicling the rehearsals of a Broadway play, Birdman focuses on the story of fallen actor Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton) and his return to the stage. Throughout the film he is haunted by the superhero he once played. A surreal and dark comedy, which also gave us incredible examples of acting from Emma Stone and Edward Norton - their characters are caricatures of this strange world that we are still forced to observe.
